Michelle Sagara – Cast in Chaos

The sixth book in the Chronicles of Elantra. And what a great series it is!

Cast in Chaos

Kaylin Neya is a Hawk, part of the elite force tasked with keeping the City of Elantra safe. Her past is dark, her magic uncontrolled and her allies unpredictable. And nothing has prepared her for what is coming, when the charlatans on Elani Street suddenly grow powerful, the Oracles are thrown into an uproar and the skies rain blood..The powerful of Elantra believe that the mysterious markings on Kaylin's skin hold the answer, and they are not averse to using her - how ever they have to - in order to discover what it is.Something is coming, breaking through the barriers between the worlds. But is it a threat that Kaylin needs to defend her city against - or has she been chosen for another reason entirely?

It is difficult to make a review of this book. The sixt part in a continuing story, where there is a considerably world building. Lots of different races, mortals and immortals, and everything that has happened before is important. So I do recommend you read this series in order. And you will devour the books as I do.

The trouble starts when magic is happening at random, and when it starts to rain blood, it means something bad is coming. So Kaylin is running circles trough the city again, from the Halls of Law to the Imperial Palace to speak with the Arkon and Lord Sanabalis, to the Halls of Prophecy, where one of the Oracles has started painting again, to the Fiefs and the Tower of Tiamaris, to the Barrani Court, and most important to the Garden of the Elementals, and Evanton.
Gaining information, reporting, and in the end, learning more about the Devourer, an entity that “eats” entire worlds, and is now coming to theirs.
